Spray free White Quinoa
What is it?
Quinoa is an ancient seed dating from the Incan Empire. Originating in Peru and Bolivia quinoa has been harvested by the Andean people by more than 4000 years. It was a sacred crop to the Incas who referred to it as "mother of all grains'. However, Quinoa is not actually a grain but a pseudo-cerial closely related to beetroot and spinach.
And the best thing is - it's grown here in beautiful New Zealand!
What are the nutritional benefits?
High in protein, fibre, iron. Full of nourishing plant goodness. Provides most of the amino acids. Great for those avoiding wheat and wanting to increase their protein and fibre intake.
Where can I use it?
Great for adding to soups and salads. Add to breads for a crunch. Great as alternative to couscous and rice. Use with fruit and honey for a delicious breakfast bowl. Easy to prepare by rinsing under water, adding to a pot with water and boiling then simmering until the water or stock is absorbed. Incredibly versatile, use like any other grain.
