Family Pantry's favourite green smoothie recipe - wholesome food

There is nothing better than starting off the day with a delicious green smoothie - packed with a variety of greens, a handful of seeds and a couple of pieces of fruit. What we love about this recipe is that you can pick and choose the ingredients depending on what grows in the garden or is in season at the time.

It's a great way to add green leaves and seeds to your family's diet and it doesn't take much time to prepare. And the best of all - it's super nutritious and tastes great!

Ingredients:

3 CUPS OF GREEN LEAVES (choose any of the following)

Kale, swiss chard, silverbeet, lettuce, spinach

You can also add some parsley, lemon sorrel or beetroot leaves but not too much as it can be overpowering.

2 CUPS OF WATER

A HANDFUL OF SEEDS (choose any of the following)

Linseed, chia seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, hemp seed hearts

1/2 TEASPOON OF TURMERIC

1 TABLESPOON OF LSA

1 BANANA

1 APPLE

You can substitute the apple with any other type of fruit, for example berries, pear, persimmon...etc

Method:

Add the green leaves and water to a blender and blend it until combined. Add the seeds, tumeric and LSA and blend again until combined. Cut the banana and blend it. Add the apple and blend until everything is combined.

Depending how thick you like your smoothie you can add additional amounts of water to get the right consistency.

We hope you enjoy your smoothie and would love to hear your feedback!
