What are they?

True to their name, these popular beans are kidney shaped and creamy in texture commonly used in Latin American dishes. They are excellent in simmered dishes where they easily absorb flavour and seasoning.

What are the nutritional benefits?

A good source of potassium, calcium and iron. High in manganese and thiamine. Rich in fibre and protein and almost completely fat-free.

What will I love about them?

These beans make a versatile addition to soups, salads and vegetarian cuisine as well as the staples like chillies, tacos and enchiladas. They are great in wraps and in vegetarian bean burgers.

These beans come from New Zealand company Chantal Organics that was started in the mid-1970s in Hawkes Bay by a group of like-minded people. They shared a vision of healthier food and a better life for their families and now make spreads and muesli, mill grains into flour and farm vegetables. Their vision is that quality organic and whole foods are affordable for all Kiwis - just like Family Pantry!
