What is it?

Tahini is made by toasting and grinding unhulled white sesame seeds.

What are the nutritional benefits?

Extremely nutritious, it's rich in minerals such as lecithin, magnesium, potassium, and iron as well as being a great source of calcium. It's high in vitamin E and multiple B vitamins as well as being high in protein.

What will I love about it?

It has a rich, earthy flavour and it's extremely versatile. It's tasty in homemade dressings and hummus, and makes a great alternative to nut butters. Mix it in to stir fries, mash it with avocado. Add it to chicken salad. Make cookies with it....the possibilities are endless!

It is made by New Zealand company Chantal Organics that was started in the mid-1970s in Hawkes Bay by a group of like-minded people. They shared a vision of healthier food and a better life for their families and now make spreads and muesli, mill grains into flour and farm vegetables. Their vision is that quality organic and whole foods are affordable for all Kiwis - just like Family Pantry!
